Caren Ulrich Stacy is a lawyer recruitment and development expert with more than 18 years of experience in lawyer recruiting, professional development, and diversity, working with law firms across the country. In the last decade, she has facilitated the integration of more than 1,100 new and lateral lawyers and managed 1,500 training programs, 45 retreats and 30 mentoring programs.

A noted expert in the field of lawyer development, Caren was awarded the NALP Mark of Distinction for Professional Development and Training in 2009 as a result of her vision, leadership and innovation.She is the author of several highly-regarded lawyer development books, including Loyalty by Design: A Practical Guide for Developing an Effective Attorney Integration Program and her newest book, For the Benefit of Your Clients: Effectively Managing and Developing Lawyers,which will be published in late fall, 2010. She is also an accomplished and highly sought-after speaker.

Among her accomplishments, she has served as the chair of NITA’s Law Firm Advisory Group and on the executive council of the Virginia Bar Association Law Practice Management Division.  She has also served as chair and vice-chair of the NALP Attorney Development Committee, two terms on the board of directors for the Professional Development Consortium and as co-chair of The American Lawyer Chief Recruitment, Professional Development and Diversity Officers Conference.

After working in career services and law firms for almost two decades, Caren founded Lawyer Development Strategies LLC, which has now merged with Lawyer Metrics.

Caren became a fellow of the College of Law Practice Management in 2010.
