CITATION UPON INDUCTION INTO THE COLLEGE
Jim Sandman has a different background than many of our Fellows. Sure, he was involved in the management of Arnold and Porter from an early stage in his career. And, he became the managing partner and led the firm through a period of growth and leadership. And, he served on all the important committees of the DC Bar. But, here’s what really distinguishes Jim. In 2011, when he retired, he became president of the Legal Services Corporation. No kicking back for Jim—he stepped into the leadership of the U.S.’s most important access point to justice for those in poverty. Talk about a practice management challenge … Jim brings his incredible large law firm experience to the largest law firm in the U.S., as well as his deep knowledge of how Washington really works. The College is thrilled to play a small role in helping LSC serve its clients, and we are pleased to welcome Jim Sandman as a Fellow in the College of Law Practice Management.
