Martha Fay Africa is a Founding Member of Major, Lindey & Africa, a legal search firm with offices in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Palo Alto, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington, DC and Hong Kong. Her clients are public and private corporations, law firms, and municipalities throughout the world. Marty is active in the ABA’s Law Practice Management Section and has served in various leadership capacities with the Section including as liaison to the ABA’s Commission on Women. She chaired the Section’s Diversity Committee, organized and led the Section’s Glass Ceiling Task Force, and formed the Women Rainmakers organization in 1989, an organization she currently co-chairs. Marty is also a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Committee on the Employment of Minority Lawyers and has consulted with the State Bar of California on issues relating to minority attorney employment. Marty is a frequent speaker at ABA, NALP, state and local bar meetings and law schools on various topics ranging from lateral hiring, to law firm mergers, to women and business getting in the legal profession. She writes extensively, and is a frequent contributor to ABA publications, particularly multi-author books. She is currently on the Editorial Board of Law Technology News, an AmLaw publication. In her “other life”, she sits on various non-profit and educational boards including that of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
