For over 25 years Merrilyn Astin Tarlton has been a thought leader and consultant on law firm business strategy and innovation, organizational development and marketing. She coaches lawyers, management groups and law firm managing partners in their various roles as leaders and business people, and is Partner/Catalyst of the website Attorney at Work.
Merrilyn was the Editor-in-Chief of the American Bar Association’s magazine, Law Practice, and wrote regular columns on innovation, creativity and people issues in the profession. She has been published in numerous electronic and print publications on a wide variety of topics.
She has held a variety of senior appointed positions with the American Bar Association Law Practice Management Section including Director of Planning, Director of marketing and Chairman of the Education Board. As the first Chair of the ABA’s Beyond the Breaking Point Task Force, she is often quoted in national, international and local media regarding stress, quality of lilfe, balance and professional development for lawyers. Her recent work has focused on trends impacting the future of the profession, creating and managing change in law firms, business innovation and strategy.
Merrilyn was a founder and early President of the Legal Marketing Association and, in 2007, was inducted into the inaugural class of the LMA Hall of Fame. Inducted as a Fellow in the international College of Law Practice Management in 1996, Merrilyn ultimately served as President for four years.
