Patti Lane is the Director of Human Resources for Hooper Lundy & Bookman, PC.  Patti has been involved in legal management for more than 25 years.  She is a Certified Legal Manager (CLM), having earned that designation in 1997, the program’s inaugural year.  She has served in a variety of leadership roles, including President of the Association of Legal Administrators in 2003-04.  She’s written numerous articles, including the award-winning Legal Management article “Leadership:  Never Stop Learning”  and the Best Feature Article “The Administrator’s Role in Marketing:  Showcase Your Leadership,” at the 2009 ALA Annual Conference.  Patti has presented programs for ALA at the chapter and regional levels and has taught “Managing the Professional Services Firm” at the University of California at San Diego.   She is a regular contributor and member of the editorial advisory board for San Diego Lawyer magazine, and has been recognized as one of San Diego’s “120 Most Influentials” by the San Diego Daily Transcript, and one of the “Women Who Mean Business” by the San Diego Business Journal.Perhaps her greatest pride comes from receiving the Spirit of ALA Award in 2008.

She currently serves as a Trustee of the Foundation of the Association of Legal Administrators, and as a director on the boards of San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program and the Parkinson’s Association of San Diego.

CITATION UPON INDUCTION INTO THE COLLEGE

Patricia Lane has been in legal management since 1984 and has led the Association of Legal Administrators from the chapter level through service as the ALA’s international president in 2003/2004. During her term, she championed bylaw changes to expand the Association’s membership eligibility to lawyers who have principal executive management responsibility in their firms. She was part of the inaugural class to achieve the Certified Legal Manager designation, and has been an active proponent and role model for that program. Patti’s commitment has been recognized with numerous awards from the ALA and San Diego-area business publications. I’m pleased to welcome Patricia Lane as a Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management.
