Sally King is the Chief Operating Officer of Akin Gump. Sally is a senior international executive with experience in global operations, strategic planning, merger planning and integration, as well as finance and general management. Throughout her career she has worked closely with senior leaders in law firms and major corporations to significantly increase profitability and productivity by building, leading and motivating highly effective teams of professionals.

Sally was previously the chief operating officer for Clifford Chance US LLP, a role in which she was responsible for overseeing all business service functions, including finance, technology, human resources, business development, communications and operations. Prior to joining Clifford Chance, she led Kronish Lieb Weiner and Hellman LLP in its successful 2006 merger with Cooley Godward and served as COO for Cooley Godward Kronish LLP. Other leadership positions Sally has held include vice president, operations and administration at Verizon, where she was a member of the Merger Integration Team during the industry’s two largest, multibillion-dollar mergers (NYNEX/Bell Atlantic and Bell Atlantic/GTE); COO at Counsel Connect, an American Lawyer Media-owned online communications and information service for lawyers, which she helped launch in 1994; and senior business manager of the General Electric Legal Organization, which at the time had 475 lawyers in 75 locations around the world.

A London native and a dual national of the United Kingdom and the United States, Sally frequently writes and speaks on legal management topics and is active in numerous legal and business organizations, including the British-American Business Counsel (of which she is a member of the Board of Directors), the Association of Legal Administrators, the Large Law Firm Executive Director’s Roundtable and the American Bar Association.

Sally is a Fellow of  the College of Law Practice Management.
