John Conner

John Conner, an early practice management pioneer, passed away in December. John practiced law for more than thirty years in Washington, D.C., and was most recently a partner at the law firm of McKenna, Long & Aldridge, LLP. As third Chairman of the Committee on Economics of Law Practice of the American Bar Association, he actively promoted and participated in early national conferences on law office economics and management. He helped kindle the national spark of interest in law practice management. His paper, Elements of Proper Timekeeping, given at the Third National Conference on Law Office Economics and Management in 1968, is a classic. He implanted his notions on effective management into his law firm which ultimately expanded into a firm of national recognition. John was inducted as a Honorary Fellow in the College in 1994.
