John Charles Hanley

John Hanley died March 27, 2025, at age 81.

John was inducted as a Fellow in 2000. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado Boulder and served briefly in the U.S. Air Force. John later earned his MBA at the University of Denver.

John had a 55-year career dedicated to improving law firm employees. He began in the legal field in 1967 as Associate Dean at the University of Denver College of Law, where he started several programs, including the Master of Science in Legal Administration.

In 1985, he became Administrative Director at Holme, Roberts & Owen and later at McKenna & Cuneo. He helped form Hoffman, Reilly, Pozner & Williamson in 2000, serving as Executive Director until the firm's combination with Fennemore Craig in 2020. John retired in 2023. John’s professional integrity and leadership were an inspiration to the entire legal community.

A Celebration of Life is planned for June 21, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
